• Plants have not thrived

  We bought 50 beech hedging plants last year, and now only 11 are still alive. At least 5 never grew at all. No replies to emails asking what we should do.

• Good service

  July 2011 Ordered pallet of 75 buxus (box hedge) plants in 2L pots 30 - 40 cm height - transaction cost just under £500. Plants arrived next day and are good quality but are clearly the smaller size 1.5L 20 - 30cm which would have been significantly less expensive. I have called Hedges Direct and they have now rectified this by promising to refund me the difference between the cost of the larger and smaller plants - good service

• poor quality plants

  We ordered about £100 worth of plants. When they arrived, unprotected in two large boxes one box load were all out of their pots and seriuosly damaged. Following a phone call they agreed immediately to replace all the damaged plants, which arrived within days. However, there were also problems with the other plants, many were clearly in the wrong size pots, many had been lifted some time before and had considerable weed growth on the side of the root ball. Many of the plants also had a very small root ball, with others shallow roots. The company seems to be based in one part of the country, with the office in another. When dealing with the office they couldn't have been more helpful. Sadly this level of service hasn't spread to the plants. This having been said, all the plants are now in the garden and looking ok.
